I have dealt with autoimmune issues for eleven years, and have seen a bevy of different doctors. If you’re someone looking for a rheumatologist, you may already know how hard these problems are to diagnose - particularly if you’re a woman. Invisible diseases are often even ignored by providers who should treat them. You leave several appointments feeling defeated, and depressed. Enter Dr Michaels. At my INITIAL CONSULTATION appointment with her, she sat with me for an hour, with a notebook and a pen. She listened to my struggles with pain, going back over a decade. As I described symptoms, she would jot down potential causes, and tests she may want to run. She asked questions that half a dozen other specialists never asked. She brought up concerns that had never been brought up. This was the first time I felt like I was being heard, like I was being seen, and like someone was going to help me. And she did. We figured out a treatment plan together. Something else incredible? Typical wait time to get in with a rheumatologist? 6-12 months. I saw Dr Michaels within weeks. If you’ve been struggling with any sort of autoimmune disease or rheumatoid issues, I highly recommend setting up an appointment with Dr Michaels.
